Manakau Lodge - Kaikoura

I always return for my city breaks at this lovely lodge. It has everything I need - Wi-Fi, free parking, and a well-equipped kitchen. The staff even helped me with bug spray on my first stay. I have no regrets!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff was cute and friendly, and the owner's photography was very nice. The room was spacious, comfortable, and had a sitting area to escape the rain. The hotel facilities were great, including the open fireplace in the foyer and the tea/coffee station in the dining room. The location was perfect - quiet and with fine views, but still a short drive into town for meals.

Nothing that we didn't like.

The location is stunning, with beautiful views of the mountains or sea. Privacy is guaranteed, perfect for those who enjoy peace and quiet. The owner, Neil, provides excellent service and is very friendly. The food served at the lodge is delicious and prepared with locally sourced fresh produce.

Sound Bar in the room: I felt like I was in my own personal movie theater with the 43-inch 4K TV and Sound Bar. The surround sound truly elevated my movie-watching experience, making it feel like I had front-row seats to the action. It was a cinematic delight!

Breakfast menu: Limited options at breakfast, only one choice per person.

Quiet location, delicious supper platter, friendly pets, stunning photographs, comfortable seating.

I absolutely loved the way the lodge was decorated. The beautiful photographs on the walls really added a touch of elegance to the place. The common areas were cozy and inviting, especially the lobby fireplace where I enjoyed sitting and chatting with other guests. The lodge was also very accessible for senior people like myself, with all the amenities close by and easy to reach. It was a perfect setting for a relaxing and peaceful vacation.

It would have been even better if the children working there had more knowledge about the local area. It would have been nice to have some recommendations for activities or attractions that are particularly suitable for senior visitors.

manakau lodge in kaikoura exceeded our expectations yet again. the beautiful location and rural charm made our stay unforgettable. the friendly staff always helped us plan our days, and breakfast was a delight with a wide range of options. don't forget to bring an apple for merlin the donkey.

Mosquitos and horse flies were a nuisance.

We had an amazing xmas getaway at this cozy lodge. the host was so friendly and gave us great tips on where to eat and what to see. the view of the mountains was breathtaking and our room was so warm and comfy. We loved waking up to the delicious breakfast prepared by the host. It was the perfect start to our day. We also enjoyed having our own private sitting area outside where we could relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. Definitely a special place to spend the holidays!
